Aran Crafts
Visit websiteAn Irish family knitwear business, also trading as West End Knitwear, founded in 1957 by Molly Cullen in Monasterevin, County Kildare, granddaughter of Kate O'Shea, who in 1856 became the first Irish craftswoman to sell hand-knitted wool commercially. The business passed to Molly's sons Paul and John, who modernized the traditional Aran patterns for contemporary fashion, and is now run by her grandsons Niall and Barry. It's grown into Ireland's largest knitwear manufacturer, still working from the same family lineage of hand-knitting technique.
