An Italian sneaker brand reviving an American original: Autry was founded in Texas in 1961 by tennis-shoe specialist Jim Autry, built a following through the 1980s (Tennis Magazine once rated it the best shoe on the market), then quietly disappeared when its founder fell ill. Four Italian entrepreneurs found archive photos of the original tennis shoes in a Milan archive room in 2018 and relaunched the brand in 2019 under Alberto Raengo, reissuing the original Medalist model and producing it in Italian factories with European leathers rather than the brand's original Texas manufacturing.
