Benjamin Barker Studios
Visit websiteThe tailoring arm of Benjamin Barker, a Singapore menswear label started in 2007 by Nelson Yap, then 27, who financed the first tiny Marina Square store with a S$100,000 loan from his mother against the family home. The design premise is built around dressing for the tropics rather than importing cold-weather tailoring wholesale (lighter, more relaxed construction that still holds its shape), with shirting cut to a Japanese fit developed after Yap studied pattern-making in Japan directly.
