An American goods brand founded in 2009 by graphic designer Peter Buchanan-Smith, who left a career working for Isaac Mizrahi (and a Grammy-winning album cover for Wilco) to start it from his own backyard workshop during the recession. It began with hand-painted, American-made felling axes (functional but bright, pattern-decorated pieces that ended up exhibited at London's Saatchi Gallery) before expanding into knives, trousers, canvas totes and enamel cookware. Duluth Trading bought the company in 2020; Buchanan-Smith bought it back in 2023.
