An English bag maker founded in 1973 by newlyweds Ros and Martin Billingham, who started out making fishing bags from a spare bedroom, cutting canvas on their own kitchen table. In 1978 they noticed a surprising number of bags were being bought by a photographer in New York, and within a year production had shifted almost entirely to camera bags, a shift that defined the brand ever since. Bags are still handmade in Cradley Heath, England, using waterproof canvas bonded to butyl rubber, brass fittings and real leather.
