An Italian tailoring house founded in 1934 in Triuggio, near Milan, by brothers Giovanni and Giacomo Canali after the textile company Giovanni managed closed and left him without work; Giovanni ran the business side, Giacomo, a trained tailor, ran production. What started as a small menswear workshop grew to around 100 employees before the war forced a pause; Giovanni's three sons rebuilt and expanded it afterward. In the 1970s, Canali became the first Italian tailor to introduce mechanized cutting, blending industrial scale with the handwork the house was built on.
