Connolly was founded in 1878 as a family business of saddlers and shoemakers in London, and grew alongside the car industry to become a supplier of finished leather for manufacturers including Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Jaguar, and Aston Martin. Its leather has also been used in the House of Commons and House of Lords, on Concorde, and in the Queen's Coronation coach, and Connolly Brothers still produces automotive leather under licence today, run by a member of the founding family. The brand was relaunched by owner Isabel Ettedgui at No. 4 Clifford Street in Mayfair, a Georgian building dating to 1730, where it now sells menswear and womenswear clothing alongside its leather bags and driving accessories.
