Stefan Holwe and Jan Roosen founded Horizn Studios in Berlin in May 2015, launching with a suitcase built around an integrated, ejectable phone charger and billing themselves as Europe's first direct-to-consumer luggage brand. In 2019 they worked with NASA astronaut Alyssa Carson on a luggage concept designed for space travel and launched Horizn ID, the first configurator of its kind for building a custom case online. A 2021 collaboration with designer Tetsuya O'Hara produced Circle One, a line built from BioX, a composite made from flax.
