House of Cheviot was founded in 2002 by James Wright, a Yorkshireman who set out to make luxury socks in Hawick, a Scottish Borders town long known for its textile industry. The company spent its early years working closely with local Hawick makers to learn traditional knitting techniques before expanding its range through the 2010s to include country and Highland-influenced styles. It began selling to stockists worldwide from 2015 onward, and its socks are still knitted in Hawick today.
