Jamiesons Knitwear
Visit websiteJamiesons Knitwear was founded by Robert Jamieson in the early 1890s in Sandness, on Shetland's west coast, and has stayed in the Jamieson family for five generations. Shetland wool was traditionally considered too delicate for machine spinning and was blended with coarser wool, until Bertie Jamieson and his son Peter developed a way to spin it pure in 1978. The family opened Jamieson's Spinning in 1981, Shetland's only commercial woollen mill, handling every stage of production from grading and dyeing through to spinning under one roof. Its knitwear includes crew neck and saddle-shoulder sweaters, Fair Isle yoke sweaters, and vee-neck vests, all in 100% pure Shetland wool.
