Fabien, his uncle Mathieu and later his sister Odile started Le t-shirt Propre in Aveyron, France in 2016, after a café conversation about how little sense it made that something as simple as a T-shirt couldn't be made cleanly and locally. They launched on the crowdfunding site Ulule that year hoping for 100 pre-orders and got far more, then spent four years relocating each step of production back to France. The result, launched in 2020, traces a single supply chain entirely within the country: linen grown in the north, spun in Pas-de-Calais, knitted in the Somme, dyed in Haute-Loire and finished in their own Aveyron workshop.
