The Lotuff brothers had already built and sold one manufacturing business, Berkshire Blanket, before starting Lotuff Leather in 2012 out of a factory in Norwalk, Connecticut, this time determined to keep production in New England rather than move it overseas as they had with their earlier company. Co-founder Joe Lotuff built the brand around vegetable-tanned leather, logo-free designs and a team of American artisans, with no shortcuts on materials this time around. Demand grew fast enough that by September 2013 they'd opened a second, in-house studio in Providence, Rhode Island, run by Creative Director Lindy McDonough.
