Pierluigi Rofi and a partner named Gufoni founded Maglificio GRP in 1973, taking the company's initials from their own surnames, and set up their knitwear factory in Poggio a Caiano, in Tuscany's Medicean hills. The business stayed family-owned through the decades that followed, formally launching the GRP label itself in 2001 after years of producing knitwear for others. Production has remained in that same Tuscan factory throughout.
