Melissa Morris, an American, founded Métier in London in 2017 after years of frustration with badly designed bags. The breaking point came when she missed a subway train while crouched on a platform digging through her own bag for a wallet. She chose London partly to stay close to the Italian workshops that make her pieces, pairing classic luxury design with practical solutions to everyday carrying problems. Everything is handcrafted by Italian artisans using leather sourced ethically from Italy and France.
