Christophe Loiron, a French expatriate who'd moved to California in 1990, opened Mister Freedom as a vintage clothing retail shop and design studio in Hollywood in 2003. His designs start from original vintage garments pulled out of his own extensive personal collection, then get reworked and modified into something distinct rather than simply reproduced. Loiron partnered with Toyo Enterprise (the company behind Sugar Cane and Buzz Rickson's) to manufacture the eponymous line.
