Paul Stuart
Visit websiteRalph Ostrove, who'd learned the menswear trade at his father's Broadstreet's stores, struck out on his own in 1938 to open Paul Stuart at Madison Avenue and 45th Street in New York, naming the store after his son, Paul Stuart Ostrove. The flagship has stayed at that same corner since it opened on March 7, 1938, building a reputation for Ivy-style tailoring cut from some of the finest mill fabrics available. Clifford Grodd ran the company as its CEO from 1958 until his death in 2010, steering it through most of its growth into a premier American menswear name.
