João Magalhães founded what became Portuguese Flannel in 1927, and his sons Fernando, António and Eduardo joined the business in the early 1940s, turning it into a four-generation family operation. The mills sit in and around Guimarães, a Portuguese city known specifically for its textile industry, with shirting still made there by local craftsmen. The brand builds its designs around that regional heritage and the people who work in it, rather than chasing seasonal trend cycles.
