David Rancourt started what became Rancourt & Co. in Lewiston, Maine in 1967, building the company around handsewn shoe construction rather than machine-driven mass production. Three generations of the Rancourt family have run the business since, still working out of the same Lewiston workshop. Every pair remains designed and handcrafted there, using the handsewn techniques the company was founded on.
