Stubbs & Wootton
Visit websiteAn American luxury footwear brand founded in 1993 in Palm Beach by Percy Steinhart, a former investment banker who wanted to recreate the handmade needlepoint slippers gentlemen once changed into after muddying their boots on unpaved streets, reimagined with a more playful range of embroidered motifs, from foxes and fly-fishing scenes to skulls and crests. Steinhart found a factory in Spain willing to make the quirky velvet slippers, and every pair is still handcrafted there in limited runs today, using fine velvets, linens, leathers and needlepoint embroidery. The name borrows from 18th-century English painters George Stubbs and John Wootton, and the look merges English country-house sensibility with Palm Beach's more relaxed grandeur.
