The Local Merchants is an independent menswear boutique in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, founded in 2020 by Samuel and Edward. Samuel had worked as a menswear buyer at an independent Essex retailer, while Edward came from a branding and marketing background, and the pair opened the shop during the pandemic. The store stocks around 45 curated labels spanning clothing, footwear and accessories, including Crockett & Jones, Gran Sasso, Portuguese Flannel and Valstar, and has introduced European brands such as Berwich and Informale to UK customers. It also offers made-to-measure tailoring and personal styling alongside its ready-to-wear stock.
