Tricker's was established in 1829 by Joseph Tricker in Northampton, England, and was granted a Royal Warrant in 1989. Its factory, a Grade II listed building, closed briefly in March 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic -- the first time production had stopped since the company's founding -- and has also served as a filming location for the movie Kinky Boots. James Fayed acquired a 71% stake in the company in 2025, with the long-time owning Barltrop family remaining involved in management.
