Troubadour Goods was founded by Samuel Bail and Abel Samet, two former finance colleagues whose work and weekend travel left them frustrated with the overnight bags on the market: either too logo'd for the office or too formal for the weekend. They spent the company's first year and a half developing materials and design, traveling across Europe to tanneries and bag manufacturers before settling on partners. The name comes from the traveling storytellers of medieval Europe, chosen as a nod to the artisans behind the brand's leather goods.
