Viola Milano's roots go back to 1988, when the family behind it started a tie factory in Puglia. The Viola Milano label itself launched in 2008 as a sartorial accessories line, opening a Milan head office in 2010, an Amsterdam office in 2016, a second head office in Lecce in 2020, and a New York flagship store in 2023. Its ties and accessories are made by artisans in Italy and the UK, through family-run factories with two and three generations of textile experience.
