William Crabtree & Sons traces to 1835 in Yorkshire, where it became known for fine wool and hair blankets and duffle cloths, supplying the Hudson Bay blanket company and exhibiting at Prince Albert's 1851 Great Exhibition. The company name has passed through different families over the generations; its current owner, James, trained in textiles and worked with Savile Row and Jermyn Street tailors before taking it on. In 2020 he opened its first shop, on New Quebec Street in Marylebone, expanding the original made-to-measure tailoring into ready-to-wear pieces like chore jackets, shirting, and knitwear, alongside curated brands such as Cubitts eyewear.
