Yuketen was founded in 1989 by designer Yuki Matsuda, producing footwear and leather goods out of Maine. Uppers are hand-stitched with beeswax-coated thread, and materials include oiled leather tanned in the US, full-grain leather and suede tanned in Tuscany, vegetable-tanned leather from Mexico, and leather from Horween, the Chicago tannery that has run continuously since 1905. Its original boat and camp soles are hand-processed from 100% Amazon rubber, alongside Vibram-made USA soles and an Italian-made Cortina lug sole.
